Celebrating Our Community & Preparing for the Future

Moving Mayfield Forward

August has been another extremely active month, with opportunities to celebrate local businesses, support our schools, youth, and continue conversations about Mayfield's future.

Celebrating Our Community

On August 1st, it was a pleasure to welcome visitors and speak at Donuts & Democracy. Afterwards, I attended the Fancy Farm picnic. The picnic is a great event. It's an honor to serve on the Graves County Pioneer Award Committee. This year, Blake Kendall was honored with the Pioneer Award. Blake owns his own excavating business and A&B BBQ and he is a true pillar of Mayfield, Graves County. He is very deserving of this recognition.

On August 4th, I attended the Cast Iron ribbon cutting. I'm always excited to hear of new businesses coming to the community and offering a different dine in experience.

On August 8th, I joined the tables for Second Christian Church and Mayfield Enrichment Center at the Farmers Market. I’m a proud member of Second Christian Church and MEC non profit organization. Thank you to those behind the scene helping make the Farmers Market a success. Also shout out to the vendors and community members who continue to support the Farmers Market to make it possible.

Community & Economic Development

On August 13th, I met with our state representative, commissioners, and city council members to discuss opportunities, upcoming projects, and areas that need improvement in our city and county. The following week, I met with developers, commissioners, and council members to discuss development opportunities and ways we can continue working toward a stronger future for Mayfield. These conversations are important because our community's future depends on collaboration and a willingness to look at both our opportunities and our challenges. It's imperative that we be forward thinking and prepare for the next 50 years.

Education & Youth Development

I currently serve as the School/Home/Community Liaison for Mayfield Independent School District. My role is to build bridges between our school, our students, their families and our community. I work with high performing students to help them continue to reach their potential, while also working with students who may be facing challenges. I conduct home visits, connect families with resources and address barriers that can affect a student’s success. I also serve as a representative of our school district throughout the community. I'm the Mayfield Middle School football head coach, and serve as Athletic Director for Mayfield Middle School sports. If elected mayor, I will no longer serve as head coach or athletic director, however, I will continue to support youth sports.

I have played sports my entire life, and anyone who has played sports for many years will tell you that many of the skills learned in the sports arena transfer to other areas of life. Sports teach discipline, teamwork, leadership, accountability, and perseverance.

I will always support sports in Mayfield, Graves County. I will continue working with our school districts, city, and county to find ways to enhance and improve sports opportunities in our community. Sports provide opportunities for our youth while also improving the quality of life for families who call our community home.

Supporting Community Resources

Strong communities require strong partnerships. Throughout the summer, I have continued meeting with community organizations, educators, business owners, developers, elected officials, and residents to better understand what our community needs. When we work collaboratively, we can better serve students, families, businesses, and residents throughout Mayfield and Graves County.

The Power of Partnership

We all know that strong communities are built through strong partnerships across the community, county, region, and state.

Throughout this summer, I have continued building relationships and having conversations about how we can create opportunities for future growth.

Whether the conversation is about education, workforce development, business recruitment, housing, youth programs, infrastructure, or quality of life, the goal remains the same: find ways to make Mayfield better for the people who live here and for the generations who will come after us.

Looking Ahead

As summer comes to an end and we move into fall, the work continues.

School is back in session. Sports have begun. Businesses continue to grow. Families are settling into their fall routines and our community is looking ahead to what comes next.

My commitment remains the same: listen to our community, work together, and build a stronger future for Mayfield.

Local elections matter because the decisions made at the local level directly impact our daily lives. When citizens become engaged, our community becomes stronger.

Thank you again for your support, encouragement, and belief in this vision for Mayfield. I remain committed to listening, learning, and working alongside our community to create opportunities for future generations. Let's move Mayfield forward—together.
