Family, friends, and neighbors,

This past month has been full of opportunities to connect with people across our community, listen to concerns, and continue sharing my vision for the future of Mayfield. I believe progress comes from working together, investing in our youth, supporting economic growth, and building stronger connections throughout our city and county.

On April 14, I attended the groundbreaking for SkillRise 270. SkillRise 270 is an important investment in workforce development and economic growth that will help prepare people for future career opportunities right here in our region.

On April 15, I participated in the Graves County Task Force meeting through the Impact Opportunity initiative with United Way of Graves County. I also attended the TDC Roofing ribbon cutting and was glad to support continued growth and investment in our community.

On April 17, I attended the internship fair at Graves County High School for juniors from both Graves County and Mayfield Independent Schools. Creating opportunities for our youth to connect with future careers is one of the best investments we can make. I also attended county meet-and-greet events throughout the month to hear candidates share their vision for the future. It’s vital that the city and county continue working together to move our communities forward together.

On April 20, I had the opportunity to speak at the Republican Candidate Forum and share my vision for Mayfield. I appreciate the opportunity to engage directly with community members and discuss ways we can continue strengthening our community..

On April 21, I attended the grand opening of City of Mayfield Fire Station 1. Investments in public safety are investments in our people and our future.

On April 22, I traveled to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis with the high school Cultural Diversity team. It was a meaningful experience and an important opportunity for students to learn more about leadership, history, and unity.

On April 24, I attended the KBC LEO Spring Summit where I connected with leaders from across the state and listened to discussions focused on youth development, leadership and economic development. These conversations are important as we continue preparing for the future.

On April 25, I attended Wingo Trade Day and had the opportunity to give a stump speech and speak with members of the community. I appreciated hearing different perspectives and discussing ways we can continue moving Mayfield forward together.

I’m also excited to officially launch Let’s Talk Mayfield, a community-focused podcast centered on local voices and real conversations. The first two episodes are now live, featuring conversations with Trajon Bright, Jayden Stinson, Connor Guthrie, Greg Cook, and Coach Joe Morris about Mayfield’s past, present, future, youth development, mentorship, workforce pathways, and what it means to invest back into the community that shaped us.

Most importantly, in-person voting is Tuesday, May 19. I encourage you to make a plan to vote—and to check on a neighbor, friend, family member, or church member who may need a ride to the polls. . If you know someone who is still deciding or wants to learn more about who I am and the kind of leadership I hope to bring to Mayfield, please feel free to share my Decision 2026 feature with them here: [share this link] Local elections are decided by the people who show up, and every voice matters.

Thank you again for your support, encouragement, and belief in this vision for Mayfield. I’m committed to continuing the work, listening to our community, and helping create opportunities for future generations.

Let’s move Mayfield forward—together.

With gratitude,

Derrick Parrott
